If you’ve been looking at this latest Samsung TV you may be confused by the model numbers – what’s the difference between the UE55B7020 and the Samsung UE55B7000?

The answer is – no difference in specification at all. The only difference is in the line that surrounds the screen - the UE55B7020 has an all black bezel; whereas the UE55B7000 has a rose coloured (dark pink) bezel. The UE 55B7000 is sold by Dixons, PC World & Currys. The UE55B7020 is available from other stores. And, just to add to the confusion, sometimes the UE55B7020 is also called the UE55B7020W. They are both the same TV.

The Samsung UE55B7000 / UE55B7020 offers a stunning picture with Samsung’s renowned features and build quality.

To help you decide whether the UE55B7000 is for you, we have a UE55B7000 Review together with the Specification. In addition we have the cheapest UE55B7000 Price from top UK retailers such as Amazon, Comet, and Currys.

Review of the Samsung UE55B7020

Build Quality: The most unusual feature of the UE55B7020 is that it could be described as the supermodel of TVs, being especially thin. In fact it is in the order of 29mm in depth. The black sheer finish to the edge of the television looks wonderful, as does the thin see-through connection between the screen and the base. A different plus point is that Samsung has included all of the key parts within the set – a few manufacturers have required viewers to find a site for a detached box for such things as the Freeview tuner.

Audio Quality: This leads to a weak point frequent in up to date TVs – the sound quality is only middling. There is so little depth to permit reasonable speakers. So, if you’re planning on investing a lot of money in a TV like the UE55B7020 you really need to think about connecting it to separate speakers.

Picture Quality: The unique promotion point of the UE55B7020 is the fact that it uses LED technology to replace the usual fluorescent tube backlighting system found in other TVs. Even though the backlighting technology is atypical, the UE55B7020 remains a LCD TV. LED backlighting is held to have the following benefits:

* Conventional backlighting is rather irregular. LEDs use a lattice system to backlight the whole picture

* LEDs can make a great black – which has not been feasible with LCD TVs until currently.

* The display responds more rapidly.

* The colour choice that can be shown is better.

Connections: The UE55B7020 has four HDMI ports, two USB, and a LAN (Local Area Network) one – future proof at present. The LAN one allows the UE55B7020 to retrieve files on your PC set-up that you might wish to draw on. And the USB connections permit many file formats to be played when a USB stick is put in. As well as facilitating a wireless link to your home network – a separate dongle is wanted for this.

There are in point of fact two remotes. The principle one curves over at one end (planned to lie on an armchair arm?). A tad curious to hold at first, but you get used to it. The second, smaller remote simply allows volume power and channel changes.

Energy efficiency: LEDs draw on a lot less power (between 100W and 130W) than the traditional fluorescent backlighting so the TV will be less expensive to own than its competitors.

Summary: Although the sound performance of the UE55B7020 is not up to the impressive standard of its screen, it outperforms its competitors, with vivid colours and black blacks. The finest image quality in its class.

This model known as the UE55B7000 and UE55B70ooW as well as the UE 55B7020 is fairly new but has already had great reviews almost everywhere you look. Here is the UE55B7020 review regarded as most helpful by Amazon consumers courtesy of Amazon UK (All Amazon reviews are here):

From O:

Bought this tv a month ago and am still being amazed at it’s picture quality and feature set!
There’s not much this tv can’t do!
There are built in media files which cover things like screen saver type things where you can either use the default pictures of animals, landscapes or piece of art, or you can load up your own pictures, awesome!
For a full feature list go to the Samsung website as it would take up too much space here.
I’m running my XBox360 through the VGA input, my Wii through the Composite and my Blu-Ray & VirginV+ box through the HDMI.
There are so many options for connection it should suit everyone.
The sound on the tv it pretty good but to be honest I have everything running through an AV amp so I don’t actually use the TVs own sound.
Is it worth the money?
Hard to say, if you want an eco friendly TV with awesome picture quality and enough options to please everyone, then yes.
If you’re looking for the biggest picture size for the least money then there are other set on the market that will be a better match, the new LG for one.
I love it, but that’s just my opinion.

Taking a Look at The Samsung UE55B7020 LCD TV reveals a liquid crystal display televisions that is almost stunningly thin and extremely elegant looking in its presentation. This is so because the manufacturer has placed LEDs or light admitting diodes around the edges to serve as the backlight media. There’s no evidence of picture blur along those edges, by the way, which is what LEDs are famous for.

The UE55B7020 television itself measures a very nice 55 inches and has a resolution in its picture field of 1920×1080. It makes use of the Samsung-proprietary WCE (wide colour enhancer) to push that LED engine. It can do so because it has a 100 Hz video capability in its motion plus, which is another Samsung proprietary function. There are no inexpensive fluorescent tubes used to backlight; only LEDs.

Using LEDs allows TVs of this size to be much more efficient, energy-wise, than LCD TVs that use fluorescent tubes as backlight. Because the UE55B7020 television has LEDs set up along the edges of the screen, the TV itself can be much thinner than standard LCD TVs that make use of more traditional methods of backlighting. Generally, this means classic fluorescent tubes.

When it comes to multimedia and networking features, there is no end to such features within this UE55B7020 TV. Just about every expert who has ever evaluated it has said that the Samsung network functionality capabilities are first rate, and helped to make this TV really stand out. It can be networked to a PC through standard Ethernet or via use of a wireless adapter for home wireless networks.

Wireless capability is handled through one of several USB ports that come standard with the UE55B7020 TV. In order to take advantage of the capabilities, the personal computer that is being used must have DLNA software on it, but Samsung has thoughtfully included certain software with the television to make this possible. Also, the TV plays video, music and multimedia files through a handy USB port.

To present a very vivid picture, Samsung uses the same panels that one can find on flat-panel computer monitors starting in 2006. The crispness and richness of the image presented through such a panel is of extremely high quality. Samsung’s proprietary name for such a panel is an “Ultra-Clear.” For sure, colours and depth of field on the UE55B7020 are outstanding because of this panel.

Surround sound capabilities are standard with this UE55B7020 television, as are Dolby Digital Plus and SRS HD. Sound output comes from an RMS unit that features a high-quality woofer and 15 watts of power. The manufacturer has thoughtfully included a whole host of other features for the price. An auto volume leveler and a smart content manager — that oversees operations — are also part of the package.

The Samsung UE55B7020 LCD TV shows one what is really possible in light emitting diode or LED supplemented liquid crystal display televisions. This includes the fact that these particular TVs are pretty much the thinnest available, and the price — though not cheap — still is well within the prices demanded for televisions of this quality.
